Islamic Azad University Should Focus on the Gaps in Higher Education
Ayatollah Araki, while emphasizing the services of the Islamic Azad University in the field of higher education, called on the officials of this university to pay greater attention to the existing gaps in higher education.
According to the Public Relations Office of Ayatollah Araki, during today’s meeting with Dr. Ranjbar, Acting President of the Islamic Azad University, and his accompanying delegation, he noted: “The expectation from the Islamic Azad University is that it should focus on addressing the gaps in higher education. One such gap is that graduates of our universities should also cultivate piety and commitment within themselves.”
He further identified another gap as the development of Islamic humanities, stressing: “It is essential to extract the concepts of humanities as articulated by the great figures of religion such as Imam Khomeini, the Supreme Leader, Martyr Sadr, Martyr Motahhari, and Ayatollah Jawadi Amoli, and present them in the language of academia for further research and study by scholars.”
Ayatollah Araki also introduced a third domain in this regard: the realm of the thoughts of the Islamic Revolution and their explanation. He added: “The idea of the movement of the oppressed and resistance against arrogance should also be analyzed in this framework, as this movement is not merely a political one, but must be considered as a scholarly movement.”
While appreciating the efforts made within the Islamic Azad University, he called on its officials to devote greater attention to these three areas.
Ayatollah Araki also stated that the capacities available in the international branches of the Islamic Azad University are valuable assets that must be given greater consideration.
